The inner bark of True Cinnamon Tree is commonly used for culinary and medicinal purposes. Cassia is another tree which is very similar to True Cinnamon. In the open market mostly you get the bark of Cassia labeled as Cinnamon. Cassia is cheaper to produce and has a bolder, less subtle flavor than true Cinnamon. Due to the presence of a chemical called coumarin, Cassia is possibly unsafe when taken in larger than 6 grams daily for a long period of time.
On November 26, 2016, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India issued a notification banning the wholesale and retail sales of Cassia. However, it is very well available in the market sold by many reputed brands as True Cinnamon or Cassia itself!
At Wayanadcraft, True Cinnamon is grown naturally in our own plantation in Wayanad, Kerala. We use only bio-fertilisers like Cow Dung and bio-pesticides like ‘Jeevamrutham’ and is certified (“Bharatiya Prakartik Krishi Padhathi”) by the Agriculture Department who conducts frequent inspections.
The inner bark of the True Cinnamon tree is stripped manually and adequately dried and then stored. It is then packaged into eco-friendly pouches with utmost hygiene and care.

This is the real deal. This is real cinnamon.
Many people do not know this but what is more commonly available is called cassia cinnamon which is a darker, thicker, harder bark. Cassia can be harmful to liver and kidney in large quantities.
But this one is totally harmless — this is real cinnamon and totally safe even for the boiled cinnamon water +honey weight loss therapy.

Recieved my first consignment yesterday after 11 days.Its fragrance, colour, thickness is same as Ceylon premium quality Cinnamon.Too good visually, rest feedback I will provide after consuming it for a week.Thanks a lot Gr8 experience so far.Moment I opened very tightly packed Resealable Envelope ,Fragrance was Divine, tooooo good.
